Ouch!
Today I thought it would be intelligent to fall down a flight of stairs outside the uni rec centre
Dont be fooled i was not going to the gym
I was walking to town
I did a 180 as I fell hitting the right side of my face on railings that originated on my left
I have bruised both my shins as well its rather painful especially if i sit down for a while when they have to move again they get stiff
I wont be able to walk tomorrow morning for a while :)
The bruising isnt apparent but it extends much further than the grazed area
i actually have a completely straight red mark up the right side of my face where i hit the pole but thats fading although the area that got hit hardest has bruised somewhat
i suppose we'll see in the morning as i will probably look and feel like death
anyway
see you later

My Sisters Keeper
I have finally been able to see this movie
having read nearly all Jodi Picoults books
It was one of those movies that followed the book
mostly
from having read it a long time ago it seemed to follow well
although the finer details have been lost to my memory
I did however notice a large deviation from the plot
Part of the magic of Jodi Picoults books is the twists and turns she creates making you always mistrust your own predictions
Considering how Anna was made to donate to Kate and would not have been born otherwise it makes her an odd part of her family. to her mother she is only there to save Kate although her father brother and sister dont see her that way
The part of the story where Anna dies(goes into a coma from a car crash) and the decision is made to give her organs to Kate helps to write off that feeling of not belonging created by the story
and although it is cruel it does invoke the question of ethics and provokes the idea of because she was a "designer baby" she was unnatural and because her genetics were too similar to Kates they were connected and her existance hindered Kate
It also provides the solution to Sara's fantasy
with Kate dying in the movie it just follows the normal format of hollywood and doesnt challenge the viewer to rethink their own view of ethics and their own views on "designer babies" and playing god with nature as that is theoretically what Sara was doing. the movie does not address this question which the book does
However aside from the pretty little neat ending of hollywood
and its inability to draw any intense reaction from me
It was a good movie and is worth a watch from Jodi Picoult readers and everybody else
